Crystal Ball

For a 15th wedding anniversary, the traditional gift is crystal, so I thought it would be creative to book an overnight in a lighthouse for Jen and I since traditional lighthouses often have a crystal fresnel lense to focus the lamp. Romanitic right? I know!

Unfortunately, Poseidon and the weather had different plans.

Had I crystal ball instead, maybe I would have foreseen a lighthouse in the middle of the bay in November might be hit or miss. In our case ... miss. The keeper called and cancelled our trip a few hours before we were to leave. He asked that we reschedule next spring. When Jen got home I had to improvise.

ME:The good news, I booked a surprise overnight in a lighthouse!
JEN:Wow, awesome! ... is there bad news?
ME:Yup! We're not going. We're going to wing it for dinner and maybe catch a movie since we have a babysitter, but all the plans just got cancelled .. 1 hour ago.
JEN:Wow, awesome!
